Terms of Service

Last updated: 23 August 2026 · EULA · Privacy Policy · Imprint · Open the app

Welcome to PLATZ, a platform for organising and joining pickup football games. By creating an account you agree to these Terms.

1. Your account

You must provide accurate information and keep your password secure. You are responsible for activity on your account.

1a. Minimum age & guardian consent

You must be at least 12 years old to create a PLATZ account, and at least 13 years old if you are in the United States or its territories, where we do not knowingly collect any information from children under 13. Anyone under 18 may only sign up with the consent of a parent or legal guardian, whose name and contact details are provided during registration; by signing up as a minor you represent that you have obtained that consent. Minors join age-appropriate games only. We do not knowingly allow accounts below the applicable minimum age; if we learn of one, we will remove it. If you believe a child has given us information, write to no-reply@mehro.ch and we will delete the account.

2. Acceptable use

Be respectful. Do not harass, threaten, or abuse other players; do not post offensive, illegal, or misleading content; do not impersonate others or disrupt games. We may remove content, cancel games, or suspend accounts that violate these Terms.

3. Games and pitches

Games are organised by users. When a host marks a pitch as “guaranteed”, they represent that they own or have booked it; “open field” games carry no such guarantee. PLATZ does not own pitches and is not responsible for availability, injuries, or disputes between players. Play at your own risk.

3a. Costs & payments

Creating an account and joining games is free. Most games on PLATZ are free to play.

Some games are paid, because the pitch costs money. The host sets what the pitch costs and it is split between the players. On top of that share you pay a PLATZ service fee, which covers card processing and the cost of running the platform. Both amounts are shown in full before you pay — there is nothing added afterwards. Paid games have a minimum share of 6.00 per player in the currency of the pitch.

3b. When the host actually gets paid

Your payment is held by PLATZ, not sent to the host, until after the match. It is released to the host once the game is established to have been played — normally when the players agree a score or rate the game. If that cannot be established, or somebody reports a problem, the money is held and reviewed by a person before anything moves. A game that is found not to have been delivered is refunded to the players instead of paid to the host.

3c. Refunds

PLATZ only works if people turn up. Nine other players arrange their evening around you, and the pitch is booked on the basis that you will be on it. The refund rules follow from that:

The service fee is not refunded in any of these cases, as the card processing cost has already been incurred and is not returned to us either. Wherever a refund is less than what you paid, the app tells you the amount before you confirm.

If you think a refund decision is wrong — you were ill, the host cancelled at the last minute, something else happened — write to no-reply@mehro.ch. These rules exist to protect the other players, not to keep your money, and we would rather hear from you than have you out of pocket unfairly.

3d. PLATZ Plus

PLATZ Plus is an optional subscription that unlocks cosmetic and convenience features. It changes nothing about the football: it does not affect matchmaking, team balancing, your PLATZ Level, or which games you can join.

Plus can also be earned for free by inviting friends who sign up. Earned months and paid months are the same thing and simply extend the same expiry date.

On iOS, Plus is sold and billed by Apple, not by us. It is an auto-renewing subscription: it renews at the end of each period unless you cancel at least 24 hours before that period ends, and your Apple account is charged on renewal. Manage or cancel it any time in your Apple account settings — cancelling stops future renewals and you keep Plus until the period you have already paid for runs out. Refunds are handled by Apple under their terms, not by us. Prices are shown in the app before you buy.

4. Ratings & levels

Your PLATZ Level and teammate ratings are derived from games you play and feedback from other players. They are estimates for matchmaking and carry no other meaning.

5. Content you submit

You retain ownership of content you post (e.g. chat messages). You grant PLATZ a licence to display it within the service for the purpose of running games.

6. Termination

You may delete your account at any time from Settings. We may suspend or terminate accounts that breach these Terms. On deletion, your personal data is removed as described in the Privacy Policy.

7. What PLATZ is — and what it is not

PLATZ is an information and matchmaking platform. We put players in touch with each other and with the organisations that make pitches available. That is the entire service.

We are not the organiser, promoter, referee, coach, supervisor or steward of any game. We do not own, lease, operate, inspect, maintain or control any pitch. We are not a party to the arrangement between you and a host, between you and another player, or between you and a pitch owner. We do not employ hosts, and hosts are not our agents. Games are arranged, run and attended by users on their own responsibility.

What “verified” means. Where an organisation is shown as verified, that means only that we have carried out a basic check that the account belongs to a real organisation before letting it publish. It is not a statement that a pitch is safe, in good condition, correctly described, insured, lawfully available, or suitable for any purpose, and it is not an inspection, endorsement or guarantee of any kind. You must judge a pitch for yourself when you arrive.

We do not carry out background checks, identity checks, criminal-record checks or fitness assessments on users. Ratings, PLATZ Levels, age brackets and pitch information are supplied or derived from users and are not verified by us.

8. Assumption of risk

Football is a physical contact sport and carries an inherent risk of injury — including serious injury — and, in rare cases, death. Pitches, weather, lighting, equipment and the conduct of other players are outside our control.

You participate entirely at your own risk. By joining or hosting a game you confirm that you are medically fit to take part, that you accept those risks, and that you are responsible for your own safety and for judging whether a pitch, a game and its participants are appropriate for you. You are responsible for arranging your own accident, health and liability insurance; in Switzerland, check that your accident cover extends to amateur sport.

Meeting people you do not know carries its own risks. Use your judgement, meet in public, and report anything that concerns you through the in-app report function.

9. No warranty

The platform is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranty of any kind, express, implied or statutory, including any implied warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy or non-infringement. We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, secure or error-free, that a game will take place, that a pitch will be available, free, lawful or in usable condition, that enough players will show up, or that any information shown in the app is accurate or current.

10. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, PLATZ is not liable for:

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, our total aggregate liability for all claims arising out of or relating to the service is limited to the greater of (a) the amounts you paid to PLATZ in the twelve months before the event giving rise to the claim, or (b) CHF 100.

Mandatory exceptions. Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits our liability for unlawful intent (Absicht) or gross negligence (grobe Fahrlässigkeit), for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraudulent misrepresentation, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be excluded — in particular under art. 100 of the Swiss Code of Obligations and under mandatory consumer-protection law. If you are a consumer, you keep every right mandatory law in your country of residence gives you, and nothing here restricts it.

11. Indemnity

You will indemnify and hold PLATZ harmless from any third-party claim, demand, loss, liability or expense (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of your use of the platform, your breach of these Terms, content you submit, a game you host or attend, or your conduct towards another user — except to the extent it results from our own intent or gross negligence.

12. Pitch owners and organisations

Organisations that publish pitches do so on their own responsibility and warrant that they are entitled to make the pitch available, that it is fit for the use published, and that they hold any permit and insurance required. They are solely responsible for the accuracy of what they publish and for the condition and availability of their pitches, and they indemnify PLATZ against claims arising from them. We may unlist, block or suspend any pitch or organisation at any time, without notice and without liability.

13. Software licence

Your use of the PLATZ app is additionally governed by the End User Licence Agreement, which covers ownership of the software, what you may and may not do with it, and the additional terms required by Apple.

14. Governing law and jurisdiction

These Terms are governed by the substantive law of Switzerland, excluding its conflict-of-law rules and the United Nations Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods. The exclusive place of jurisdiction is Zürich, Switzerland, subject to any mandatory place of jurisdiction available to you as a consumer under the law of your country of residence.

15. Severability

If a provision of these Terms is held invalid or unenforceable, it will be replaced by a valid provision closest to its economic purpose, and the rest stays in force.

16. Changes

We may update these Terms; material changes will be notified in the app. Continued use after changes means you accept them.
